Volunteers Gear Up for Eurovision 2026
The atmosphere was electric as hundreds of volunteers convened for their official kick-off event, marking a crucial step in the planning stages for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Held in the very venue that will host the international spectacle, the Wiener Stadthalle’s Media Center buzzed with anticipation and camaraderie.

ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster, initiated the volunteer recruitment process for Eurovision 2026 on December 1, 2025, seeking up to 800 motivated individuals. Applications closed on January 28, 2026, with casting calls and interviews conducted in late February and early March to select the final team.
These 600 individuals, part of the larger volunteer force, will play a pivotal role in various aspects of the contest, from assisting delegations and media to guiding visitors and ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes. Their enthusiasm and dedication are vital for creating a memorable and welcoming experience for everyone involved in Eurovision 2026. Volunteers are required to be available between April 27 and May 17, 2026, to support the event across various locations including the Wiener Stadthalle, Media Centre, and Eurovision Village.

Organisers used the event to brief the volunteers on their upcoming responsibilities, foster team spirit, and officially welcomed them into the Eurovision family. With their commitment, Vienna is set to deliver an exceptional edition of the world’s biggest live music event, with the semi-finals scheduled for May 12 and 14, and the Grand Final on May 16, 2026.
