It's been over a decade now since RAI and Italy last participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, but the upcoming debut of San Marino has not gone unnoticed by the Italian music scene. Several popular artists have stated their interest in taking part in the competition, including Jalisse, who were the last Italian entrants in 1997.

Jalisse stated that they are unhappy that Italy doesn't take part in the competition anymore, but if San Marino asked them, they would "be there with a beautiful song".

Other Italian artists who have confirmed their interest in representing the country include Meg, Patrizia Laquidara and L'Aura.

Sammarinese Television is yet to announce how they intend to select their first ever entry, but esctoday.com will bring the news to you when they do!
