Ictimai, the Azerbaijani national broadcaster has announced today that Azerbaijan will select its Eurovision 2015 entry and representative via an internal selection.

İctimai Television (ITV), the Azerbaijani national broadcaster has opted to select its 2015 Eurovision act and entry via an internal selecgtion. The broadcaster is currently working on selecting its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 which will take place in Vienna, Austria in May. The 2015 Azerbaijani act and entry  will be revealed on 15 March.

Azerbaijani artists (citizens living in Azerbaijan or overseas or artists of Azerbaijani origin only) who wishes to participate in the national selection and feels confident enough to submit his/her entry needs to provide following: basic information such as name, surname, date of birth, city of residence as well as a video/audio recording or Youtube link of a performance and up to five photos.

Independent composers need to provide songs audio, lyrics and basic information about themselves. There are no nationality restrictions for songwriters wishing  to submit their entries. Songwriters are welcome to submit their applications/entries  to Ictimai until  6 March via email: [email protected]

In 2014 Azerbaijan selected its Eurovision hopeful and entry via Böyük Sehne, a televised national selection. Dilara Kasimova won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with her entry Start the fire, achieving a 22nd place in the grand finale.

Azerbaijan has enjoyed massive success in the contest since their debut in 2008, achieving a total of  5 TOP 5 placings out of their 7  participations, including a victory in 2011 ( 3rd in 2009, 5th in 2010, 1st in 2011, 4th in 2012,  2nd in 2013).

Azerbaijan debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and won the event on its 4th attempt in 2011 with Ell and Nikki’s Running  Scared, thus bringing the contest to Baku in 2012.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
