The usual speculation about which artists be wild cards in Melodifestivalen 2008 continues in the Swedish press. Ace of Base is the latest name to be mentioned, which is becoming an annual event in itself. So far there has been talk about the duets Carola and Andreas Johnson and more recently, Lena Philipsson and Orup.
More speculation in Expressen today states that Brundur Enni from Faroe Islands will perform Lullaby, Daniel Mitsogiannis will compete with Pame, Nicole Fuentes will sing Razborka and Alexander Schiöld will sing Den första svalan. National Broadcaster, SVT will confirm the 28 participants for the songs chosen by a special jury and announced in december at a press conference in the near future. Partner website believes it may be as soon as 27th November. Wildcards will be announced in late December or January.
According to Expressen, Christer Björkman, in charge of the competition says thatthereare three alternatives performers for every wildcardsong.Names that have came up in the mediafor wildcard entriesbesides Ace of Base includeAlcazar, Sara Löfgren, Mikael Wiehe, Carola, Andreas Johnson, Orup and Lena Philipsson.
Althoughit seems there that Aceof Basemay be keen to participate in Melodifestivalen 2008, esctoday.com believes this is highly unlikely. They are one of the twelve alternatives for wild cards positions. “We have definitive not closed the door, if we only can get it in so it works with our world tour. It a very interesting platform” says Ulf Ekberg of Ace Of Base to Expressen. They are currently working on a new album, set for release 2008.
