Today, at 15:00 on 20th November, the deadline to submit the songs for the Latvian National Final, Eirodziesma 2008 passed. So far, Latvian Broadcaster (LTV) has received 88 songs for Eirodziesma 2008.
Originally, the song submittion was set to end on 19th November, but as it was anational holiday in Latviafor Independence Day, the deadline was postponed by 24 hours. The creative minds of the music industry had an additional day to work on theirsongs and deliver them to LTV.
By the time submission was closed the broadcaster had received 88 songs. More applications are expected to arrive by regular post, meaning the final total will be known tomorrow but still the final number of entries is not expected to exceed last year's 103 songs record number.
The final number of the songswill be announced tomorrow, and the selection committee will forward the songs to the jury of experts. The jury will then choose 20 of them to compete for the Latvian ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest. The songs qualifying for the Latvian semi finals will be anounced at a special press conference on 6thDecember.
