The title of the Eurovision selection process in Slovenia is currently called Evrovizijska Melodija (or EMA for short).

Prior to that it was called Slovenski izbor za pesem Evrovizije, translated as Slovenian selection for Eurovision.  The contest has taken place since the country’s debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been held every year since, apart from twice when Slovenia did not participate (1994 and 2000).

Tonight, RTVSLO’s first channel, TV Slovenija 1, is showing a special programme looking back at the history of EMA and their participation in Eurovision, which will include a lot of archive footage.

You will see material from the first songs which were performed on the Eurovision stage (while part of  Yugoslavia). They will look back as far as 1961 and right up to date when Tinkara Kovac represented Slovenia last year with Round and round.
