Eimear Quinn, winner of the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland, has recently anounced her forthcoming Christmas tour dates, where she will be performing her newly released album “O Holy Night” .
"Listen…. You could hear a pin drop". Such was the reaction when 'The Tubridy Show' invited Eimear Quinn to sing O Holy Night on December 21 in 2006. The show had never had a reaction like this before. The hustle and bustle of Christmas stress and preparations seemed to come to a stand still while people took a moment to listen, and be moved. So immense was the response, that Ryan Tubridyplayed the performance again the following day on his radio show, and it was played yet again at the opening of 'Playback' that week with the introduction 'Put away your valium, Eimear Quinn is about to magic all of your stress away."
Eimear was so deeply moved by the reaction, and inundated with enquiries about where people might find a recording of it, that she vowed to record the song for release this Christmas.O Holy Night therefore, is Eimear's Christmas album for 2007- released 2 November, featuring the song in the same simple arrangement as on 'The Tubridy Show' and many more popular seasonal songs.
Eimear will join Ryan on The Tubridy Show for its launch this winter. This follows the huge success of the biographical documentary by Philip King The Living Bridge, about Eimear's singing and work with Neil Martin, which is due to be repeated on RTÉ television over the Christmas period.
