Marie-Line all over the world

French 1998 entrant, Marie-Line Marolany, is still going strong in the music business. She's presently backing Senegalese singer Ismaël Lo, in a world-wide tour, which led them to South Korea and all over Africa. Next November 17 & 18, Lo will be playing in the famous Parisian concert-hall La Cigale.

Born in Martinique, Marie-Line Marolany belongs to a family of musicians. She's has been working as a backing vocalist for many artists, and not only stars of the French black scene. She, for instance, did studio vocals for Jacques Higelin, a big name of the French chanson.

Nine years ago, she was offered the opportunity to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to a deal between "France 2" and French label "Delabel", specialized in reggae music. That's how she became French chance in Birmingham. Unfortunately, it turned to be a disaster, Où aller gaining only three points : 1 from Cyprus and the other 2 points from FYR Macedonia. The worst score ever for a French entry since 1975.
