The sixth semi final of the Icelandic selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest took place tonight. Three singers performed one song each and the winner was chosen by televoting: Magnús Eiríksson is the composer who will take part in the national final on 16th February with his song Hvað var það sem þú sást í honum? performed by Baggalútur.
It wasthe second turn of another three composers who were commisioned by RÚV to submit song. Margrét Kristín Sigurðardóttir's first attempt was in the first semi final. She performed her song Game over with Martin Høybye and neither qualified nor got a wildcard. Magnús Eiríksson won the second semi final with the song Leigubílar, which was performed by Mannakorn. Svala Björgvinsdóttir was the composer of the song If i fall in love again which got the wildcard in the second semi final performed by Edgar Smári. Her second song will be sung by Seth Sharp, who was already part of the group that won the third semi final with the song Lullaby to peace.
One of the two songs that have not qualified will get a second chance in the 12th week. This was tonight's line-up:

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, Iceland did not manage to reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest although the country was sometimes quite close finishing 16th, 13th and again 13th in the semi final respectively. Iceland will havetake part in one of the semi finalsin Belgrade.
