Things have been rather quiet around Loreen, the winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. After her victory she released her debut album Heal and now, more than two years later, she is ready to start a new era in her career. She has been teasing her fans with little information on this new project, probably called Paper Light.
Loreen started using the hashtag #paperlight in January, writing messages on her social media pages like: We are born to be higher, we are paper light and As long as I am breathing, I am just beginning. #paperlight. On 9 February she made a big announcement, writing that a new era was about to begin, which her fans could be a part of. It is not yet exactly clear what this new era is or what the fans will be part of, but her official website started a countdown, ending on the 11 February. Her followers have the opportunity to subscribe for a mailing list that will provide the details about the upcoming events.
Loreen released her debut record, Heal, in 2012, a few months after winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Euphoria. She released her Melodifestivalen song from 2011, My heart is refusing me, in an updated version as a single and in May 2013, when Eurovision took place in her home country, she launched the single We got the power. In 2014, she did a short European tour with gigs in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. She performed a few new songs, possibly from an upcoming album, during these concerts.
It is not yet clear if Loreen will announce a new single or album, but it is highly plausible that new music is just around the corner. Stay tuned to ESCToday for all news about Loreen and Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.
