Greece have just selected their participant for this year's Juinor Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Rotterdam in December. A girl group comprising Stephanie, Suzan, Anna Trepekli, Sophia and Andromachi Yfanti won tonight's final with Kapou mberdeftika, a rock song about girl power.

"Don't you act macho, these words get lost on me" sang the five girls who made full use of the favourite Eurovision stage clothes-switch gimmick and won the televote delivering a professional performance of Kapou mberdeftika (Confused). All five girls love music and sports. The Trepekli sisters besides being A students are also red belts in Tae Kwon Do.

Sarbel, the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest participant was the star of the evening as well as a jury member. He performed many of his latest hits including his Eurovision entry Yassou Maria. Yiorgos Ioannides, the Cypriot 2007 JESC entrant was also present. Yiorgos seems to have been working hard on his performance as it was significantly improved since he won the Cypriot final.

In the Greek final Cyprus was allowed to vote as well. Unfortunately no telecast or webcast was available for the Cypriot viewers who subsequently could not watch.

You can listen to the song here.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
