The first Eurovision Dance Contest, held on 1st September 2007 in London achieved high viewing rates across Europe. As the International Dance Sport Federation has now reported, 23 million viewers in 16 countries were watching the dance competition that evening.
Those figures become particularly spectacular in countries like Sweden, where 50% of the audiencetuned in to watchthe first ever Eurovision Dance Contest.
Other nations where the dance event obtained important viewing rates were Portugal (43,7% share) and, in absolute figures, Germany (3 million), United Kingdom (3.8 million) and Poland (4 million).
Finlandtook victory in the first edition of the annual Eurovision Dance Contest, held in the BBC studios in London.The BBC will once again host the event in 2008 as part of the original agreement that allowed the show concept to become reality. The show was the brainchild of Splash Media, a London based television production company.
