According to latest reports, rock singer Sebnem Ferah has received a proposal from the Turkish Radio and Broadcasting Union to represent Turkey at the 53rd Eurovision Song Festival that will be held next year in Belgrade.
After thesuccessful participationsof Sertab, Athena and Kenan Dogulu, the Eurovision Song Contest has become even more popular in Turkeythan it has been before withTV-programs, newspapers and magazines paying ever more attention on the event. As a result, in this ‘hot’ atmosphere, there was much speculationon the very next representative of the country. Firstit was rumouredthat it was Hande Yener who had received the proposal. This was later denied by TRT. Then all eyes were turned to young R&B singer Hadise. Would this beautiful singer be the country’s next Eurovision representative? Again, the answer was ‘no’.
However, according to latest reports, for TRT there seems to be another candidate: rock singer Sebnem Ferah who is very popular among the Turkish youth. TRT has admitted that the proposalhas been madeto Sebnem Ferah and that they are encouraging the rock singer to take this outstanding opportunity to represent Turkey. Moreover, once more, there seems to be consensus about sending a song in English.
