Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir welcomes the audience. She announces that Dr. Gunni, Svala Björgvins and Magnús Eiríksson are the composers of tonight's songs.

There is a recap of the the song Boys and perfume which didn't qualify last week but will get a second chance. The three composers are now introduced in short films. Svala Björgvins is a daughter of Bo Halldórsson, who has represented Iceland in 1995 with Núna and has also taken part in many Icelandic national finals. Magnús Eiríksson was the composer of Gledibankinn, Iceland's very first song contest entry in 1986.

1. Heiða – Ísinn (Ice-cream)

It's the first up-tempo pop song in the Icelandic selection this year. The singer has already taken part in the Icelandic national final last year with Ég og heilinn minn – another song by Dr. Gunni. Heiða wears a 1980s aerobic outfit which might not have been the best choice but still gives a colourful impression.

2. Edgar – If I fall in love again

Edgar is a member of the Icelandic boy group Luxor. The song is a romantic rock balladreminiscent of some boy group tunes of the 1990's while the singer has kind of a Bryan Adams charm. Overall a confident but unspectacular performance.

The chorus is very similar to the chorus of the Austrian entry in 1989, Nur ein Lied performed by Thomas Forstner and composed by Dieter Bohlen.

3. Pálmi Gunnarsson – Leigubílar

Song number three is a jazz-rock song. Leigubílar is performed in Icelandic – which is surprising regarding the US American music style. A female singer joins Pálmi Gunnarsson during the performance; composer Magnús Eiríksson plays the guitar in the background. The singer is casually dressed and despite the strong vocals the whole performance seems pretty flat and forgetable.

The lines are now open. The result will be announced in the second part of the show in about 20 minutes.

Pálmi Gunnarsson has won the televote and will take part in the final with the song Leigubílar.
