Just like last year, the Swedish national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was watched by far more viewers than its Nordic equivalent, Lilla Melodifestivalen, the country's preselection for the MGP Nordic.

920. 000 viewers watched the JESC national final on TV4 as opposed to 780.000 who watched Lilla Melodifestivalen on SVT, partner site Escsweden reports. It has to be taken into consideration, though, that Lilla was broadcast at the same time as the Swedish version of Pop Idol, which is highly popular in Sweden (1.4 million viewers).

For the second year now, Swedish broadcaster TV4 has been in charge of the country's participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest whereas SVT participates in the Nordic MGP together with Denmark, Norway and, as of this year, Finland.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
