Runner-ups in the last X-Factor competition in Iceland, Hara, have confirmed rumours about their participation in Iceland's Eurovision Semi-Finals. Rakel & Hildur Magnusdottir are known as Hara, they are two sisters that have been singing and dancing since childhood.

Gudrun Sigurdardottir spoke to Rakel, the oldest sister, on behalf of esctoday.com : "Yes, we have decided to participate in the Icelandic Eurovision Semi Finals and we are very excited to start this Eurovision-rollercoster! We haven't participated before so this is all very new for us

Many songwriters are reported to have contacted Hara to ask if they would like to perform their songs in the contest. When asked about the song they selected Rakel says: "'I Wanna Manicure' is the name of our song. The song is so energetic and joyful, just the way we want to behave on stage!" Hara's entryis composed by Hallgrimur Oskarsson who also wrote Iceland's entry in 2003, Open Your Heart.

Some fans compare Hara to Norway's first Eurovision winners, Bobbysocks. When asked about it, Hara answered in their usual playful way: "we always wear extreme dresses like them and we also dance like no one is watching us!"

In just a couple of weeks, Hara will release their debut CD album in Iceland, called Bara that means 'just' and rhymes with their artistic name Hara.

A very special thank you to Gudrun Sigurdardottir for the submission of the article.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
