Eurovision 2015: Semi-final allocation draw results

A special draw was held today at Vienna’s Rathaus (City Hall) in order to distribute a total of 33 countries into one of the two 2015 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals, scheduled to be held on 19 and 21 May in Vienna.

During the draw it was also determined in which half of the semi-final the alloted countries are to perform. A total 0f 39 countries will participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. 33 countries will compete in the semi-finals, whilst the BIG 5 and the host country Austria are automatically qualified to compete in the grand final.

Another draw was held to determine which semi-final the BIG 5 countries and Austria would air and vote in. Germany was pre-alloted to air and vote in semi-final 2 after a special request from its national broadcaster ARD.

A total of 33 countries will compete in the 2 semi-finals which are scheduled to be held on 19 and 21 May. 16 countries will compete in Semi-final 1 on 19 May,whilst 17 countries will compete in Semi-final 2 on 21 May.

The BIG 5 (Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy) and Austria (the host country) are automatically qualified to compete in the grand final on 23 May.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will will be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna.
