Alenka Gotar , the Slovenian representative at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest has just released her new song enska iz soli (Woman of Salt).

enska iz soli (Woman of Salt) was composed by Andrej Babic and penned by Andrej and Alenka herself. Croatian Andrej Babic has already composed three Eurovision entries so far Više nisam tvoja ( Croatia 2003) , Call me (Bosnia & Herzegovina 2005) as well as Slovenia's 2007 entry Cvet z juga.

Lyrics

Vprašajte mornarje,
ti vedo za njo,
oni vejo, kje je,
kje do nje je pot.

Vprašajte mornarje,
zakaj ivi tam sama.
in še drhti, ko morje
v temo se ovija.

Chorus
Ta enska iz soli
boa valove,
obraz poln alosti,
ljubezni sled njegove.

Ta enska iz soli,
brez njega vene
otrok v duši,
a obličje ene.

Morje zdaj poljublja jo
kot usta so njegova
in namesto močnih rok
objema jo zdaj tema.

And the translation, courtesy to Evrovizija.com

Ask the sailors,
ask for her,
they know where she is,
they know the way.

Ask the sailors,
why does she live alone
and is still afraid
when darkness fills the sky

Chorus
That woman made of salt
touches the waves
with pain on her face,
memory of his love.

That woman made of salt
dies without him;
soul of a child, and
and face of a woman.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
