The Dutch participant in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, Glennis Grace, will be one of the ten contestants in this year's edition of 'Sterren dansen op het ijs' – 'Stars dancing on ice'. The third series of the popular ice skating show will start in October, and will be hosted again by Nance and Gerard Joling, the latter represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988.
Until so far Dutch broadcaster SBS6 has brought out five names. Next to Glennis, these areTamara Brinkman, Melody Klaver, Floortje Smit and Sipke Jan Bousema. Sipke Jan will also host this year's Junior Eurovision Songcontest in Rotterdam.Given the fact that the first 2 editions of 'Sterren dansen op het ijs' were broadcast live on Friday and Saturday, this might cause some problems for Bousema on December 8. If SBS6 continues its programming of the show,it would mean that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest would cross with one of the iceskating shows.
Glennis Grace is extremely busy these days. She's still playing the role of the good fairy Glinda in the Dutch musical version of The Wiz. Together with Esther Hart (ESC 2003) and Mathilde Santing, Glennis plays an alternate role. At the same time Glennis is finishing her new album. The album will be in Dutch, and most of the songs were written by Glennis herself and songwriterEvert Abbing. However, the release of the first single has been postponed, as it was set to be released in August already. No song titles are known yet.
Glennis Grace represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Songcontest in 2005. Her song, My impossible dream, failed to make it to the final which was one of the biggest surprises that year as Glennis was one of the pre contest favourites.
