Sofia Berndtsson: From Melodifestivalen to the Thessaloniki Festival

A surprise candidate made it this year to the semi final of the oldest music festival in Greece. Sofia Berndtsson (Berntson), Melodifestivalen semi finalist 2007, will be participating in the Thessaloniki Song Festival with Anoixe tin porta, sung in perfect Greek.

Sofia Berndtsson tried her hand for Helsinki last year when she participated in the first Melodifestivalen semi final in Jönköping with Hypnotised (original title Ypopta vlemata) whichdid not make it to the final. After spending nine months in Greece, Sofiahas developed a special relationship with the local music and she will be competing in the semi final of the oldest Greek music festival, the Thessaloniki Song Festival. 16 songs will be competing on 1st November and 10 of them will make it to the final on 3rd November.

Sofia will be performing Anoixe tin porta (Open the door) composed by Greek-Swedish Dimitris Stassos who also composed her Melodifestivalen entry Hypnotised. Dimitris stated that his dream is to compose songs which will represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest.
