The 1970 Swiss Eurovision Song Contest entrant Henri Dès been one of the most popular singers for children in the whole French-speaking markets for 30 years and to celebrate this anniversary, the Delcourt editing company asked 12 cartoonists to illustrate 12 of Dès' songs.
The result of this project is a bookwhich has recently been published and which Henri Dès made the promotion last week-end in Paris-Bercy Village for, at the 7th Delcourt festival. Henri gave up the traditional song-making business when he wrote a simple melody for his son Pierrick, about 30 years ago. He then realised that he's got a real talent to make children happy with these little stories. Since that time, a big number of records – 25 -were recorded and the man tours all year long France, Switzerland and Belgium, with crowds of children applauding him. He isso popular that his name has already been given to 21 schools in France!
Born Henri Destraz in the canton of Vaud, Dès represented Switzerland in the 1970 Eurovision song contest and reached 4th place, with the song Retour. He will be 67 years old next December.
