The British broadcaster BBC received 700 songs for A Song for Europe, which are 150 entries more than last year. Fergal Kilroy of the British Academy for Songwriters and Composers (BASC) told that to doteurovision.com.

The judging will take place at the BASC during the next two weeks and a quarter final will be held internally at the BBC in January. The jury will include songwriters, BBC entertainment staff and music industry insiders. Around twenty songs will be judged again to end up with eight songs, which will be played on BBC Radio 2 when the performing artists confirmed their participation. The best four songs will be chosen by televoting and these songs will be performed again during a television broadcast. The winner will represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Doteurovision.com also wrote that the BBC does not currently have any plans to change the format of the Song For Europe show significantly this year.
