After last night's pre recorded start show, nine acts have been announced to proceed to the next phase of Junior Eurosong 2007, the Belgian preselection for this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

The fourteen acts were judged on dancing, singing and personality. The children had been divided in five groups headed by a professional coach. The coaches themselves were responsible for eliminating one act from their own group. The nine remaining acts will be performing live on Saturday 15th September.

These are the candidates still in the running as reported by our partner site Belgovision.com :

Bab (13) goes rock. She has her own band called Made of Rock but goes solo in Junior Eurosong. In Laat Me Gerust, she sings about one of her best friends running away with her boyfriend.

De Dalton Sisters consist of sisters Laurine (12), Aurélie (11) and Marie-Laure (10). For many years, they have been dancing in the ballet groupe of Studio 100. In Verander De Wereld, they sing about a world in which friendship is the only thing that counts.

Jasper (11) sings solo and plays the guitar. In his song Weekend he complains that he does not have enough spare time.

De Juffra's is a singing duo consisting of Ellen (14) and An-Sofie (14). They sing Te Schoon Voor U, a pop rock number in a Flemish dialect, with a little bit of punk.

Larissa (13) has a real pop song, called Blijf Bij Mij, in which she wonders how it would be to have a boyfriend. Larissa already sang in the children choir of Helmut Lotti.

Brothers Toon (11) and Arnoud (12) are Mijn Broer En Ik. They want to make the accordion a popular music instrument again and take it with them on stage when singing their song Knallen.

Mona (13) sings her ballad Alleen solo. Alleen is about a teenage girl feeling all alone in this world.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
