Pyat Zvezd Festival is a prestigious song contest for the young singers in Russia organised each year by Channel One. The festival, though being held only for the third time, has be gaining more and more popularity from year to year. Serebro and Dima Koldun, who represented Russia and Belarus respectively in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, are to perform on the final night of the contest.
Pyat Zvezd (Five Stars) Festival is scheduled to be held from 5th to 8th of September 2007 in Sochi. The festival, which is in fact a song contest, is considered to be a good way to become well known in Russia. The contest gave such a start platform to many succesful young singers in the Russian music arena. On the opening, the final night of the contest and the award ceremony special guests are invited, among them this year Serebro (Russia 2007) and Dima Koldun (Belarus 2007).
Eurovision fans will recognise one more name in this year's participants' list. Prime Minister, who represented Russia in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest with Northern girl, will be competing but with a totally different lineup than the one we saw on stage in Talinn. Once very popular in Russia, and also known to European audiences, the band has fully changed its members after a scandal between the band members and their producer. With their newly formed lineup they will try their luck in Sochi this year.
A very special thank you to Anna Krasilnikova fot the submission of the article.
