Moldova: 68 songs received:live audition on 17 January

TRM, the Moldovan national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that it has received a total of 68 songs for its 2015 Eurovision national selection, O Melodie Pentru Europa. The live audition has been postponed from its initial date 19 December to 17 January in order to enable foreign artists to organize their travel, preparations and accomodation.

Hereafter a special jury will listen and evaluate all 68 submitted entries on 19 December and shorlist them to no more than 60 entries that will proceed to the live audition scheduled to be held in Chisinau on 17 January. During the live audition a total of 24 entries will be selected to compete in the 2015 Moldovan Eurovision national selection which will consist of 2 semifinals (24- 26 February) and 1 grand final (28 February).  A total of 12 songs will compete in each semfinal from which a total of 16 will proceed to the grand final (8 from each semifinal will qualify to the grand final).

This year TRM has enabled foreign artists to submit their entries and compete in the Moldovan Eurovision national selection. Artists from United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, Cyprus, Ireland, Canada, Belarus, Norway and Ukraine have applied to enter the competition.

The 2015 Moldovan Eurovision national final is scheduled to be held in Moldova on 28 February in Chisinau. The 2015 Moldovan entry and act will be selected via a 50/50 jury- televoting deliberation. The show will be broadcast live on  TRM 1, Radio Moldova and will be webcast liveo on trm.md.

Moldova debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 6th place in 2005 when it debuted at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with Zdob Si Zdub‘s Bunika Bate Toba!

Cristina Scarlat  represented Moldova at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Wild Soul, despite a powerful performance she failed to qualify to the grand final. Moldova has not missed a single contest since its debut in 2005, having competed a total of 10 times in the event.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
