The 5th season of Kohav Nolad, the Israeli version of Pop Idol, ended last night. During last night's final the mutual Eurovision project of IBA and Channel 2 was officially announced. The national final is expected to be held as early as the end of December 2007.

Last night Boaz Mauda won the final of the 5th season of Kohav Nolad, the Israeli version of Pop Idol. During the show, presenter Tzvika Hadarofficialyannounced that the Israeli entrant to the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade will be selected through a mutual project between IBA (national broadcaster in charge of Eurovision) and the commercial Channel 2, owner of Kohav Nolad. The same Tzvika Hadar is expected himself to present the Kdam-Eurovision on Channel 2, which according to his own words, is to be held as soon as end of December 2007.

The participants in the 2008 Kdam-Eurovision will all be candidates from all 5 seasons of Kohav Nolad, notnecessarily being last night's winner nor one of the former winners or finalists. In the coming weeks IBA and Channel 2 will approach leading musicians to write songs for the national final.
