Polul nord is a product of Cat Music, which has been a prominent name in Romanian music for the past twenty years. Cat Music has a large and impressive portfolio of artists, and Elena Gheorghe is joined on the roster by such acts as Mandinga, who, with their entry Zaleilah, represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012.
Following success in Romania’s Selecţia Naţională 2009, Elena Gheorghe progressed to Eurovision, where her entry The Balkan girls finished in ninth place in the first Semi-Final with a total of sixty-seven points. This performance secured Elena and Romania a place in the Grand Final. The Balkan girls went on to achieve a nineteenth place finish at the Grand Final, which was won by Norway’s Alexander Rybak with Fairytale. Watch The Balkan girls below:
The Romanian national broadcaster TVR confirmed to esctoday.com in September that the country will be participating at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2015, which will take place in Vienna next May.
