The Danish capital saw her victory and the inception of her rise to worldwide fame. The Austrian representative and winner of the last Eurovision Song Contest will return to Copenhagen for the review-of-the-year show that Danish broadcaster DR is organizing, as announced on dr.dk.
Veni, vidi, vici. So wrote Julius Caesar when reporting to the Senate on the Battle of Zela. And when you look back on the story of Conchita Wurst since last May, the famous quote by the Roman Emperor comes to mind. Her victory at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest was epic and uncontested. After that, she has risen (like a phoenix, like fire; you name it) to levels that could have appeared unimaginable to her less than a year ago.
Her triumph, modeling for Jean-Paul Gaultier, her presence at international institutions with a visit to the UN Secretary General included… 2014 has been a milestone in Conchita’s life and career.
She may be looking back on the year when it closes to an end. What is for sure is that the Danish broadcaster DR will be doing a review of 2014, like for recent years, with the show Året der gik, which is dedicated to the biggest events of the ending year. Of course, the Eurovision Song Contest host by Denmark is quite the one you want to speak about when you consider great events for the country in 2014.
In the occasion of the end-of-the-year review, the show will count with the presence of the winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest: Conchita Wurst will be performing again in Denmark, the country where it all began, as one of the guest artists of Året der gik on 16 December in the Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. The tickets can be bought from the DR website and Billetlugen.
Året der gik will have performances by other artists and it will be host by Louise Wolff and Kåre Quist. The show will be attended by the Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and several film actors.
Conchita Wurst was the Austrian entrant and winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with her song Rise like a phoenix.
