esctoday.com has contacted the Heads of Delegations of the Eurovision Song Contest 'Big Four', France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to discuss the proposed changes to the Eurovision Song Contest for Serbia 2008.

All countries are currently waiting for more details before going on record with plans for broadcasting the semi finals. We asked about whether they will broadcast one, both or neither semi final and whether the public will be able to vote.

The responses have been simply that it is still to early to say what will happen, and that they are awaiting more details about the proposed changes. It seems clear from the responces that they are warm to the idea of two semi finals. The BBC viewing figures for the Eurovision Song Contest semi final this year were exceptional for any digital channel broadcast in the United Kingdom ataround the 1,000,000 mark. The BBC have sent the proposals to various programming and scheduling departments and are actively looking at ways to incorporate the shows.

More news will be likely in September when the plans are finalised. Stay tuned to esctoday.com for all the latest Eurovision Song Contest news and developments.
