Former two time Malta representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, Chiara, has ruled herself out from returning to the competition for a third attempt at winning the crown in 2008. The singer is hugely popular with fans of the competition and many in Malta were hoping she would return to improve the country's fortunes after two poor years.

OGAE Malta report that she has decided that the timing is wrong, but she has not ruled out coming back to the competition at a later date:

"I will give my full attention to my first child, due to be born this December. During the following months I will be taking care of the child – who will get my full attention and care. So, at the moment Eurovision is out of the question."

Chiara has an impressive record at the Eurovision Song Contest, taking third place in 1998 with her entry The one that I love and returning to the competition in 2005 where she was runner up to Helena Paparizou with her entry Angel.
