Lars Forssell, lyricist of the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry back in 1973, passed away today at his home at the age of 79. He was best known as a succesful author and member of the prestigious Swedish Academy.

In the 1950s, Lars Forssellbecame a cultural reporter for various Swedish newspapers and journals. At the same time, he achieved first successes as a lyricist for cabaret shows and his own reviews. His collections of poetryled him to a membershipof the Swedish Academy in 1971, while his song lyrics brought him widespread public recognition.

In 1973, he wrote the lyrics of both the Swedish and the Englisch versions of the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry called Sommar'n som aldrig säger nej and You are summer – you never tell me know respectively. Performed by Nova in Englisch in Luxembourg, the song reached the 5th place.
