Zdob şi Zdub were the debuting representaives for Moldova in 2005. With the song Boonika Bate doba, they finished second in the semi final and 6th in the final receiving twice the 12 points and three times the ten. They wanted to represent Moldova again in 2007: During the internal selection process, they reached the top 3 with Space cowboys but did not get the ticket to Helsinki. Nevertheless, the song would have violated the EBU rules anyway since it was performed in public before the official deadline.
