About 2,200 years later, the world is about to know what the New Seven Wonders are in a massive ceremony broadcast to the whole world on July 7 from Lisbon. Among the guests that will perform on stage there will be Dulce Pontes, who represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991.

Stepping on the Estadio da Luz stage will be world renowned personalities of show business like "songstress" Jennifer Lopez, dancer Joaquin Cortés, Holywood Oscar winning actors Hillary Swank and Ben Kingsley, football star Cristiano Ronaldo and opera singer Jose Carreras. The latter has worked in the past in a duet with Dulce Pontes. They will do the opening number of the show with a song called Todos somos um composed and written by Dulce. The song is the hymn of the event and will be performed in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

In the last few years the singer has had quite a lot of success outside Portugal with many concerts around Europe, the USA and Japan. Her latest album called O coração tem três portas has been praised by the media including the New York Times.

You can still vote for your favourite "wonders" here and be part of history. The ceremony starts at 8.30 CET and there will be a live webcast here (free registration required)

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
