BNT has confirmed to ESCToday that Bulgaria’s participation in Eurovision 2o15 is not ruled out but it can’t be confirmed currently either. The current political situation afflicting the country is expected to be resolved in the coming weeks. Hence the broadcaster is awaiting the details for its budget for 2015.
Once all the hurdles afflicting the broadcaster are resolved the board of directors of BNT will evaluate the situation once again and will take the final decision about its participation in Eurovision 2015.
Earlier this month the Bulgarian broadcaster had confirmed to ESCToday that it had decided to be absent from the competition for a 2nd year in a row due to financial reasons. There still seems to be some hope to see Bulgaria back in the competition next year in Vienna.
In 2014 Bulgaria withdrew from the competition due to budget cuts and financial reasons. The last time we saw the country on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2013 when Stoyan and Elitsa represented Bulgaria in Malmo with Samo Shampioni.
Bulgaria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2007, when it achieved a 5th placing with Stoyan and Elitsa’s Voda!
The official list of participating countries at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is expected to be released by the EBU, by early January.
