Sónia Araújo will be the female entrant in the first Eurovision Dance Contest to be held on 1st September in London. The TV host won the second edition of Dança Comigo (the Portuguese version of Strictly come dancing) and was therefore chosen by RTP. Her male co-competitor is yet to be revealed, but it has already been announced that he will be a professional dancer.
Sónia Araújo even has a connection to the Eurovision Song Contest: in 2001, she hosted the Portuguese national selection. After Sweden and Germany, Portugal is the third country that will be definitely represented by a couple consisting of a VIP and professional dancer. Nevertheless, Sónia Araújo already had got dance experience before she took part in Dança Comigo: she started taking dance lessons at the age of nine.
