Yesterday, Dutch television director and producer Theo Ordeman died from an incurable illness.
Ordeman worked for Dutch television since the early 50's. In 1962 he became a director and soon afterwards he directed a fund-raising televisionshow, Open het dorp, that lasted 24 hours. This achievement secured him a place in the Guiness Book of Records.
Ordeman was de director of the Eurovision Song Contest for three times. In 1970, 1976 and 1980 he directed the event that was held in the Netherlands in those years. He also directed the Dutch national final for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1981 and 1984.
