Eurovision: MTV EMA go Eurovision

MTV recently published the nominations to the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards. Like in past editions, Eurovision singers appear in the list.

While some think that the careers of the singers who compete in the Eurovision Song Contest ends there, MTV itself proved otherwise.

The television network MTV has presented the list of the nominated artists for the 2014 edition of its annual Europe Music Awards, and dedicated Eurovision fans cannot help but noticing that past participants or singers who have competed to be at the Eurovision Song Contest can receive a recognition from MTV this year.

The Balkan Girl Elena Gheorge is one of the nominees for the Best Romanian Act Award. Elena represented Romania in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with the Song The Balkan girls.

Serebro are in the list of candidates for the Best Russian Act. The group defended their Song#1 in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with quite a tantalizing performance.

Nominees from the Nordic Countries in this year’s MTV EMA edition include two singers who have attempted a Eurovision participation. Adelén could be awarded as Best Norwegian Act this year. She participated in her country’s National Selection Melodi Grand Prix in 2013 with the latino beats of Bombo.

The Best Swedish Act nominees include a twice entrant of the Melodifestivalen. Anton Ewald attempted a Eurovision Song Contest entry for Sweden in 2013 with Begging and in 2014 with Natural.

Though not winners yet, the nomination to such honorable recognition is proof that the Eurovision Song Contest is still a springboard to worldwide fame in the music industry.

This year’s MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony will take place on 9 November 2014 at the SSC Hydro in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Good luck Elena, Serebro, Adelén and Anton!
