GPB, the national Georgian broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Georgia will most likely participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in May next year. An official confirmation regarding the 2015 Georgian Eurovision participation is expected in due course.

The method and mechanism that Georgia will use to select its 2015 Eurovision entry is yet to be determined, if the country is to participate. It is more than likely that Georgia will opt for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act, as has been the case in the past years. In 2014 GPB selected Mariko Ebralidze and The Shin via an internal selection with their entry Three minutes to Earth. The Georgian hopefuls failed to qualify to the grand finale in Copenhagen, despite a fun loving performance.

A total of 19 countries have confirmed their intention to participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest: Portugal , France  Greece,  FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium, and Estonia. Whilst Montenegro, Latvia ,Belarus and Georgia have stated that they are  most likely to enter the competition next year.

Georgia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi‘s Visionary Dream. The country is yet to win the event and their  best placing at the contest has been a 9th place in 2010 with Sopho Nizharadze‘s Shine and in 2011 with Eldrine‘s One more day.

The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participating countries is  expected to be released by the EBU by early January. The deadline for countries to submit their application in order to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set on 15 September.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
