Belarus: BTRC confirms participation in Eurovision 2015

BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Belarus  will participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in May next year.

Belarus  is the 22nd to confirm its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Belarus  joins, Latvia, Azerbaijan  Greece,  FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium, Portugal, France and Estonia in the list of countries which will join the 2015 Eurovision party in Austria next year .  Whilst  Montenegro and Georgia have stated that they are  most likely to enter the competition next year.

The method and mechanism BTRC will use in order to select their Eurovision entry is yet to be determined. The Eurovision team and creative team of BTRC are currently evaluating and working on the format it will opt for in order to select the 2015 Belarusian entry and representative .More details and information regarding Belarus and the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be disclosed in due course.

In 2014 Belarus opted for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision representative and entry. Teo won the 2014 Belarusian national final and flew the Belarusian flag at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in  Copenhagen with his entry Cheesecake, achieving a 16th place place in the grand final.

Belarus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best result in the contest was in 2007 with Koldun‘s Work your magic, when Belarus placed 6th.

The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participants is expected to be released by the EBU by early January. The deadline for countries to submit their application in order to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set on 15 September.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
