For many the absence of Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest leaves a gap, and they hope that one day RTL, the national broadcaster, will return to the fold.
This does not mean that nothing Eurovision related has happened in the Grand Duchy since 1994.
On the contrary the seventh edition of the Eurovision Gala Night is due to take place this year. Previously the venues have been the Festival Hall of Roeser and in the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. So popular has this event become that it has moved to the Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains. As previously the funds raised will be donated to the Luxembourg Red Cross.
The selection of the participants started just after the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was held. OGAE, the organisers of the event, held auditions on 24 and 25 May to choose the performers.
On the night a team of international judges, along with the audience, will choose the winner.
The audience will also be entertained by Johnny Logan, two time winner as a singer and again as a writer (1980 What’s another year, 1987 Hold me now, 2002 Why me). The second guest artist will be Alexander Rybak who stormed to victory in 2009 with his song Fairytale.
This promises to be a great evening’s entertainment. If you would like to know more about this event, and how to obtain tickets, you can read their website by clicking here.
