RTCG, the Montenegrin national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Montenegro will most likely participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria. An official confirmation is yet to be made by the Montenegrin broadcaster regarding their participation next year.
RTCG’s Head of Press Mr. Sabrija Vulic has informed ESCToday.com that Montenegro and RTCG have the intention of participating at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Austria in 2015 and that we will most likely see a Montenegrin entry on stage in Austria. The cost and expense of participation could be a hurdle for Montenegro’s participation at the contest, but the broadcaster will do its level best to solve this issue . Mr. Vulic told ESCToday.com that participating at the Eurovision Song Contest is very important for Montenegro, as the competition is a window for showcasing the country along with its culture, music and heritage. The exposure the country gets via its participation is massive as millions of viewers worldwide can discover Montenegrin music and culture.
RTCG is expected to make an official annoucement regarding its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Autumn.
Hence a total of 16 countries have confirmed their intention to participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest: FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Estonia. Whilst Montenegro has stated that its most likely to enter the competition next year. The official list of participating countries at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be released by the EBU at the end of the year.
The method and mechanism Montenegro will use in order to select their Eurovision entry will be most likely an internal selection, as has been the case since its debut in 2007.
Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and is yet to win the event. The country qualified for the Eurovision final for the very first time in Copenhagen this year with Sergej Cetkovic. Sergej Cetkovic was selected via an internal selection to represent Montenegro at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry Moj Svijet achieving a 19th place in the grand final.
