The Madrid Gay pride is approaching and the parties and the shows are ready. One of them will include the performance of quite a few Eurovision past participants.
The Gay Pride is a major event in Madrid. Every summer, for five days, the Spanish capital is full of parties and celebrations that are enjoyed both by the locals and visitors from all over the world. The culmination is the rally on the Saturday of the Gay Pride week, when the clamor for the respect to the rights of the LGTB community can be heard.
This year the on-line magazine Shangay has prepared quite a show in Madrid for that week: the Shangay Pride. The magazine is having its 20th anniversary and the event will serve as a celebration of this birthday, with 8 hours of music and dance.
The fans of the Eurovision Song Contest will be pleased to know that plenty of Eurovision stars will be performing at the Shangay Pride. Among the confirmed names we can find the unforgettable Baccara, the Spanish duo that represented Luxembourg in 1978. And, of course, many of the most recent Spanish entrants in Eurovision did not want to miss the party: Soraya Arnelas, Rosa, Pastora Soler and Azúcar Moreno have been confirmed, too.
Of course, this Eurovision crowd could not be complete for the Shangay Pride 2014 in Madrid without this year’s Spanish entrant, Ruth Lorenzo. And, a Gay Pride in 2014 could not be such thing either without the Eurovision star that has stood up for the rights of the LGTB community. Yes. Conchita Wurst will be on the stage in Madrid, too.
Furthermore, you may remember that there was much talk about a possible joint performance of Ruth and Conchita. Well, the moment has come. The so awaited for show will be enjoyed during the Shangay Pride 2014. Both singers will take the challenge of singing Prince’s 80s hit Purple rain together.
Other artists that have been confirmed are Fangoria, Chenoa, Ana Torroja and Spagna, But there are many, many more.
The date is the 4 July in the Vicente Calderón Stadium in Madrid. The gates will open at 19:00 CET.
