Rise like a Phoenix
The date was Tuesday 18th March. Conchita was one of the last remaining artists who had not yet announced their song and in order to meet the EBU deadlines it had to be made public on that day.
Rise like a phoenix was written by Charly Mason, Joey Patulka, Ali Zuckowski, Julian Maas. The song has similarities to a James Bond theme but it’s main message is one that can be related quite closely to the gay community and Conchita, to be who you are and that you will be strong in achieving it.
The song became a big hit with fans of the contest and soon Conchita was becoming a contestant who everyone was talking about.
