Being recognised – Conchita Wurst early days in the industry
Conchita Wurst made her first public appearance was in 2011 and in 2012 she competed in the Austrian national selection for that year’s Eurovision Österreich rockt den Song Contest with the song That’s what I am.

Conchita made it through to the super final but sadly lost out to Trackshittaz with Woki mit deim popo. However even when watching the video it was evident that Conchita was like a star waiting to shine.
The following year Conchita took part in reality shows in both Germany and Austria. Viewers were able to see the star taking part in the programmes The Hardest Jobs in Austria (where she worked in a fish factory) and Wild Girls where she and other candidates had to live and survive in a Namibian desert with other native tribes.
