Eurovision 2014: 1st Semi-final press conference re-cap

The 10 qualifiers from last night semi-final gathered to meet the press and fans right after the end of the show.

Here are the highlights:

[Azerbaijan]

Azerbaijan: Dilara said to be ready to start the fire on the final with her performance.

[Montenegro]

Montenegro: Sergej Cetkovic said he is very happy for Montenegro finally qualifying to the grand final. He also stated to be singing for his neighbours (Serbia and Croatia)

[Hungary]

Hungary: when asked about the darkness of the message of his song, András said that he wouldn’t be answering that question if he had written a love song rather than about something that happens everyday and everywhere

[Russia]

Russia: the Tolmachevy Sisters said that everything went as planned and without complications.

[Armenia]

Armenia: things didn’t go as planned for Aram MP3, saying that he was happy to open the show, but would prefer to be in the second half of the final

[San Marino]

San Marino: Valentina couldn’t hide her joy after receiving a standing ovation form the press and fans. She thanked everyone that supported her on her dream of taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest for third time.

[Ukraine]

Ukraine: when asked about how she feels, Mariya said that she wasn’t sure if she was happy for her qualifying to the final or more happy for San Marino’s achievement. She also said that 34 million Ukrainians support her, which gives her confidence

[Sweden]

Sweden: after the betting odds increase in favour of Sanna, she said that since the beginning of the competition, she decided to only pay attention to the compliments about her song

[The Netherlands]

The Netherlands: The Common Linnets were extremely pleased on qualifying to the grand final and will buckle up in the race to the gold

[Iceland]

Iceland: Pollapönk stated that the Eurovision Song Contest is an excellent platform to spread their message of tolerance and no prejudices and were really happy to reach more countries now they’re in the final
