Ale� Matko, President of OGAE Slovenia, has been elected as the new OGAE International co-ordinator. Out of 31 votes, Ale� got 17, while runner up Alp Tuncaci (OGAE Turkey) obtained 12 votes.

Third candidate, Alessandro Banti from Italy withdrew his candidature on time, leaving only Alp Tuncaci and Ales Matko on the run.

The envelopes containing completed voting forms were opened by Gordon Lewis at Shirley Library, Southampton, United Kingdom. This happened on Monday, 19th of August 2002 in the presence of Anthony Ping (OGAE member) and Peter Galton (OGAE member and Southampton City Councillor).

31 voting sheets were sent to all OGAE CLUBS as listed in the Eurosong News (OGAE official magazine) issue 79/80. Each club was entitled for one vote. From them, 29 were returned. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Israel didn't cast their votes. Gordon Lewis, OGAE UK and editor of 'Vision' – the OGAE UK Magazine, was appointed to oversee the voting process.
