René Baumann, better known to Eurovision Song Contest fans as DJ BoBo, recently traveled to Ethiopia to experience conditions in the country first hand. The Swiss entertainer is the Swiss Ambassador for the World Food Programme (WFP, a United Nations aid organization). On the trip he visited several aid sites; now he continues to promote the programmes back home. DJ BoBo and the WFP just published a small blog of the trip online.

DJ BoBo is particularily interested in the the WFP school feeding programmes. He saw the programme first hand in the Wuko district of Ethiopia and wrote:

" The kids parents usually prefer to send them to work rather than to school, because they depend on their help to feed the family.

Thanks to school feeding, the number of children going to this school has doubled within three years, from 655 to 1325 children.

The meals feed their bodies and their minds. It gives them the necessary strength to study."

DJ BoBo discussed his work with the WFP in an interview with esctoday.com before the Greek national final here.
