It has been announced that the popular television presenter Laura Whitmore is to join the BBC’s Eurovision Song Contest team.
Born in County Wicklow, Ireland, in 1985, Laura Whitmore has enjoyed a successful career as a model, with fashion being very dear to her heart, and media personality. She has hosted news bulletins for the MTV Europe channel since 2008 after winning Pick me MTV, a hotly-contested show which aimed to find the face of MTV News throughout Europe.
She is also a familiar figure to fans of the hugely successful UK reality TV show I’m a Celebrity…Get me out of here! having presented the sister I’m a Celebrity…Get me out of here! NOW! show on the ITV2 channel since October 2011.
Laura Whitmore will be joining the BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills to present BBC Three’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals, replacing the Scissor Sisters singer Ana Matronic, who will be touring in May.
Laura has spoken with excitement of her new job, telling the Irish Examiner newspaper:
I am going to be in Copenhagen doing some bits for BBC Three for Eurovision so that will be pretty cool. It’s a tough life!
Graham Norton will continue as commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest final on May 10th, which will be shown on BBC One.
Molly will represent the United Kingdom with Children of the Universe, a song which qualifies directly to the final.
