Silver they got, Silver they send! Russia, which ended 2nd last year in Athens at the Eurovision Song Contest, will be represented by the girl band Serebro ( which means silver in Russian). The band will perform the song Song Number 1

Last weekend, a panel of record producers and musicians examined which artist would be Russia's representative at the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest. A girl band, Serebro, was chosen by the experts to fly the Russian flag in Helsinki.

Serebro consists of 3 young girls: Elena Temnikova, Olga Seryabkina and Marina Lizorkina. The band is a project of a famous record producer, Max Fadeev. Fadeev was the chief music producer of a Russian talent show and it was at this show when he first met Elena Temnikova, who was one of the participants.

Russia has achieved the second place at the Eurovision Song Contest twice, once in 2000 with Alsou's Solo and once last year in Athens with Dima Bilan's Never let you go. This year the country will compete 15th at the final of 12th May.
