Eight songs have already qualified for the Swedish national final Melodifestivalen 2007. As every year, the third and fourth placed entries of the four semi finals will get another chance in the second chance round – 'andra chansen'. Another two entries will make it to the final. For the first time, the entries will be performed live again to give the artists the chance to improve their semi final performances.

Andra chansen

In 2002, the current Melodifestivalen procedure was introduced, including the second chance round. Although none of the additional qualifiers has ever won Melodifestivalen, some of those who got a second chance did pretty well after all: Barbados finished 4th in 2002, Alcazar came third in 2003 and 2005; Shirley Clamp reached a second place in 2004. Overall, 2007 seems to be the year of the 'second chance' entries: DQ won the Danish final without qualifying in first place and Jannicke Abrahamsen finished second in Norway.

Thanks to Carola's fifth place finish in Athens with Invincible, whoever wins Melodifestivalen is automatically qualified for this year's final in Helsinki on 12 May.
